Neutral and TImeless Nursery Furniture Picks
The second half of the One Room Challenge is when it starts to feel like it’s coming together. The nursery furniture is in! In last week’s post I mentioned I knew I wanted mostly white furniture which is pretty much what I got. There are quite a lot of baby furniture options and sources out there, but I mostly shopped these retailers: Pottery Barn Kids*, Land of Nod*, Babyletto, Amazon Baby Store*, and Target Baby*. Here’s what I ended up getting and why.
CRIB
I got the Emerson Crib from Pottery Barn* in Cloud. I liked the classic but simple lines with some curves but not a lot of fuss. It was reasonably priced compared to some of their other options.

DRESSER
Initially, I was going to go with a changing table with open shelving. I liked the idea of putting bins and baskets on the shelves. But some good advice from an experienced mom told me once babies start crawling and grabbing at things it will be wide open for them to grab at. So I decided to get a dresser instead. I didn’t want a huge double wide dresser that would look heavy and take up a lot of floor space, but I also didn’t want a single wide dresser that just barely fit the changing pad. I wanted a little extra surface area for a lamp and storage bin. I ended up going with the Pottery Barn Quinn Dresser* which was just the right width. I also liked the added detail on the top row of drawers which I thought was cute.

ARMCHAIR
I was looking for a glider that looked more like a regular armchair than a piece of nursery furniture in case I ever wanted to repurpose it. I really only looked at a couple options like the West Elm Graham Glider*. The ones from Pottery Barn and Land of Nod were out of my price range and/or looked too traditional and bulky. Then I came across the Bailey Flare Arm Wing Skirted Swivel Glider from Living Spaces and was thrilled. It has such a classic profile, but not too fussy, traditional, or bulky, and it was such a good price for the style and quality. I was sold.
BOOKSHELF and TOY STORAGE
I also wanted some toy storage and a place to display books with easy access for a baby/toddler. I wanted a bookshelf that was short, less than 3’ feet high, had shelving for books, and also bins for toys. I also wanted white and didn’t want to spend a lot. Pottery Barn* and Land of Nod* had some good storage options, but they didn’t quite fit the bill exactly. I almost ended up getting this bookshelf* from Target when my cousin showed me this one from Amazon*. Perfect and done!
OTTOMAN
If you’ve surfed Pinterest for nurseries or kids’ rooms you’ve probably seen the same ottomans or poufs over and over like this knit pouf* or this moroccan inspired pouf*. Both are cute, but I wanted something different. I decided on this one from CB2*. I liked the detail of the folds and the bit of glam it adds with the velvet fabric and brass accent. Not baby-like but still pretty for a nursery!
Next week will be about pulling it all together with the art and accessories. Getting close to the reveal!
