Project Reveal: Modern Classic Family Home in Los Altos - The Living Room and Home Office

This newly built residence in Los Altos was the new home to a family with 2 young children. The client brought me in to help them transform an empty house into an inviting home. They wanted a place that was polished and pulled together but still casual and comfortable for a family. We created a classic, timeless living room and added California casual style to the family room. The home office was elevated with darker, masculine tones, and we gave the son a playful and colorful room that could grow with him. We also created an elegant and comfortable master bedroom.

In part 1 of the reveal, read on for how we designed the living room and home office.

The Living Room

To create a timeless and current feel in the living room we kept a neutral and classic color palette of grays, white, and black while adding a bit of polish with a few metal accents. A large wood coffee table and a pair of leather accent chairs warms up the space and gives it a comfortable and inviting feel. We kept the furniture modern and streamlined but with soft details like unique curves in the console tables. The styling was layered yet uncluttered to give it a collected but light and elegant touch.

The Home Office

The home office was the perfect space to add a dramatic and cozy dark blue wall color as it was not a big room. The furnishing and styling leans masculine but is still clean and warm. A variety of materials like leather, wood, and metals gives the space texture, depth, and richness. The space feels modern and timeless at once.

Client Testimonial —

“Working with Rosanna has proven to be the best decision we've made for our new home! We have never worked with a professional home designer before, so we were a little nervous about the whole process. But from the very beginning, Rosanna had a vision. She was highly organized and focused. She not only helped us transform our new house into a home, one that is comfortable, elegant, and cohesive, but she saved us a lot of time, energy and money.”
