Gray Sofas - Why I love them and a roundup of favorites
Apparently, I really like gray sofas. I have two sofas in my home, and both are gray. In the family room I got this custom sectional made in a tiny herringbone patterned gray fabric. It’s super comfortable, and I got the chaise part made extra wide to comfortably fit two people so my husband and I both get to enjoy it. The benefits of custom furniture! I always get asked about this one! Just want to note this sofa is over 10’ wide and on the deeper side so the proportions still work. (This photo accentuates the chaise a bit.)

In the living room I have a gray leather sofa. Admittedly, I didn’t really love the way this sofa looked with this living room design, but this sofa came with us from our last place when we moved. I had picked it out for our last place and liked the style for that place. It was too new to get rid of, and I couldn’t justify the spend for a new sofa at the time so it stayed. Tip: Just cover it up with pillows!

It hides stuff like stains and hair better than a white sofa or a dark sofa like navy, brown, or charcoal. You can have a light neutral look without the fear of a white sofa.
It is still the most popular color for sofas, which leaves you a lot of options to choose from.
Gray is one of my favorite neutrals to decorate with, and with larger investment pieces of furniture like sofas I like using a neutral that is versatile and timeless. So if you’re looking for a new sofa and don’t know where to start, I say start with gray!
